Las Vegas Spring Classic Tournament is Cancelled

We regretfully to inform everyone that our Spring Classic tennis tournament is cancelled due to several factors due to the state of the economy and the low demand of out of town players.  We will be focusing on our October tennis tournament scheduled on October 8-10, 2010.

Las Vegas Classic VIII Tournament (Results)

The annual Las Vegas Classic tournament just completed over the past weekend with 105 players participating from around the country with a few international players from Canada, France and Great Britain.  We want to extend a special congratulations to our Las Vegas players for playing in the tournament and a good number of the players making into the semi-finals and finals of most divisions!!!  For a complete list of tournament results, please go to the Las Vegas Classic (Fall) tab.

We want to thank all the volunteers who coordinated this tournament and made it a tremendous event!!!  Thank you to Jon Afalla, Eric Recientes, Nick Donath, Barry Bosacker, Chad Gregorius, Peter Goats, Scott Fleig, Vito Locantore, Ricky Cosby, and from out of town, Jim Redding!  We also want to thank all our sponsors that donated their hearts and gift items for our tournament: Damron, Passport Magazine, Krave Nightclub, Escape Lounge, All American Male, Las Vegas Convention Authority, Nick Donath Realty, and Q Vegas.  We could not have made this event a success without the partnership with our sponsors!!

As we wrap up this tournament, we are planning for tournaments in 2010 with the Spring Classic in April and Las Vegas Classic IX in October.  We will need volunteers to assist us in these 2 events as we continue to grow these tournaments.  Please let us know if you are interested in working with us and the players.

Monday Night Hitting Session

We have designated Monday nights as our regular hitting sessions at Lorenzi Park from 6:30 to 9 p.m.  We will have coordinated hitting sessions between players as well as lessons being provided to beginners and skill and strategy improvement for intermediate to advance players.  We are hoping to increase player development and get competitive while having fun!  Please remember that court fee is $6 per person for the 2 hour period that include tennis balls.  Check the calendar tab to see which location as well as register for the email update on a weekly basis.

We are having a really good turn out of players with almost 30 players this past Monday night.  I want to thank all of you for supporting our community by coming out to play tennis!  Keep up the support and grow our gay tennis club!  We also like to invite our players to meet at Roadrunners Restaurant at the corner of Washington and Buffalo for social after the hitting sessions.  We will remind everyone on Monday night.

Summer Time Fun

Ok fellow tennis players, it is quite hot and humid this summer and numerous changes happened since the spring time.  I have been extremely busy with purchase of a new house and finally settled.  I am back in full action and need to get our club back in the right direction with social events, hitting sessions, lessons for beginners as well as drills for playes who want to advance up.

We are planning a meeting for anyone who is interested regarding events and activities for the remainder of the year and into 2010.  The meeting will be held at my house, please RSVP to me on this website, on Tuesday night, August 4th at 7:00 pm.  We are looking to form committees to work on social activties and events, tournament volunteers, donations/sponsorship committe, etc.  We definitely need your help!

I know many of you are beginners in the club, please keep your enthusiasm up and we will keep providing lessons to better your game and make it challenging for others.  I am  looking forward to seeing more of you on the courts!

Welcome tennis enthusiasts!

Las Vegas Gay Tennis Club (LVGTC) is a social non-profit organization that focuses on promoting the well being of people that are interested in the sport of tennis in a non-threatening, social, and fun competition.  The club is comprised  of people of all levels from beginners to advance players looking to play with local players and competing in GLTA as well as USTA events.

Besides playing tennis, the LVGTC will work with local organizations to promote the wellness and awareness that support worthy causes within the gay, lesbian, bi-sexual, transgender or tennis communities.

The primary goal of this tennis club is to have fun!

2009 Membership

We will be emailing you the 2009 membership application.  As we continue to build our gay tennis organization, we need your support to promote our tennis club.  We will organize opportunities to play tennis with other players, player development, social events, and charity work for our community.  So far, we have almost 50 players in the directory.  Once we confirm all the members, we will be sending out the membership directory to our members.  I hope everyone is excited for our gay tennis club in the greater Las Vegas area!
